Original Swiss Army Eyewear

Where silence meets precision — and precision faces the raw, demanding reality of high alpine nature — the true origin of the Original Swiss Army Eyewear begins.

Before dedicating myself to design, I spent my own time in Swiss Army service, first as a Recruit but most profoundly during WK (Wiederholungs-kurs), deep within the Swiss Alps, in what we called the Swiss Réduit. Those days far from civilization, surrounded by sheer rock faces and biting winds, left a lasting impression. It’s in these conditions that you understand what reliability and protection really mean.

Can the lived experience of working, training, and enduring in the Réduit influence the way you bring ideas to life? How do hours spent navigating unforgiving terrain translate into every detail you later craft at the drawing board?

When my industrial design diploma-project became the Swiss Army eyewear itself, I drew on both discipline and survival instincts — corrosion-resistant titanium, anti-fog safety lenses, and adjustable frames all conceived for the unpredictability and intensity of real service.

Is it enough for eyewear to be technically flawless, or should it carry the memory of those silent mountain days when only true performance mattered? Does a product’s story — the challenges and triumphs of its creator — add a dimension that transforms it into something more than just equipment?

Would you wear these glasses for protection? Or to see through the lens of authenticity, precision, and the wild Swiss Alps themselves?

My industrial design thesis began in 1990 and was completed in 2001.
