The Herrmann Hoffmann 1819 Box® was born from a clear vision: to craft packaging for sneaker production in Germany that is simple, durable, and 100% sustainable — a design that continues to uphold that promise to this day.

 

Crafted from a single piece of cardboard, its form emerges through folding, rolling, and precise die-cutting – entirely without adhesives. Every crease and connection contributes to its stability, protecting the contents from impact. Additional cuts secure the sneakers according to their size, while the refined folding technique creates two separate chambers, eliminating the need for tissue paper.

 

The design revealed an exceptional versatility: repurposed as a gift box for one bottle of white wine and one of red, it became a personal token of appreciation from the shoe manufacturer to its suppliers and partners. Two different needs, one elegantly simple solution.

Attention was paid to every detail. Slightly angled, conical sides make the box easier to lift and provide a pleasant tactile quality – a subtle yet meaningful improvement in everyday use.

 

Beyond its design, the box also excels in logistics: it can be stacked securely, allowing multiple units to be stored efficiently and safely. Upon opening, its honest construction is revealed – no excess, no embellishment, just a considered piece of design that places the product centre stage and offers a quiet, positive moment of surprise.
