The MIH watch (2005 - 2020)

From the moment Dr. Ludwig Oechslin asked, “Design a watch that gives me all the information at a glance,” my own journey took on new meaning. Back in 2003, the challenge was clear—a timepiece that could quietly yet powerfully reveal the essentials, all at once.

It was an invitation not only to rethink design, but to pour my entire being into the MIH Watch. I became dedicated to every line, every choice, knowing I had more to offer than technical skill. I wanted to create something that felt like a companion—an object of precision, sincerity, and depth. The MIH Watch represented all of that, and more: it was released at the Musée international d’Horlogerie in 2005—a milestone forged by the craft and commitment of everyone involved. The collaborations, the sponsorships, the exhibitions—all of these were ways to share a vision of horology rooted in honesty, mutual respect and Design.

Yet, not every step was simple. The path of innovation, as I learned, comes with its own challenges, sometimes from those closest to your dreams. Still, I have always approached the journey with benevolence, hoping to walk side by side, even in the face of envy or misunderstanding. My desire was always to build with others, to let the vision shine—so that it could belong to everyone willing to see its true spirit.

Today, that story continues with the Mechanik2 Annual calendar. This watch, the successor to MIH, builds on what has come before; technical improvements and refined calendar functions are the result of relentless pursuit amid real setbacks. As its designer, I have carried forward the values that mattered most: honest innovation, emotional resonance, and a celebration of craftsmanship.

Through MIH and Mechanik2, my hope remains unchanged—to invite you on this journey, to share in what we have made possible, and to prove that vision rises above difficulty—even when the world tests our resolve. If you read this and feel a spark, know that the spirit of these watches is meant for you: authentic, bold, and always striving for something quietly beautiful.
